In this song, I am a phoenix rising—
lifting from the ashes, soaring into new heights.
Because on this healing journey, dance has been—
and continues to be—my source.

My body moves to the rhythm of ancient drums,
and my heart finds its way back to joy.
Dance, for me, is as essential as singing—
as essential as creating.

Because since I can remember, I’ve danced.

I dance alone. I dance with friends.
I dance to rejoice. I dance to celebrate.
I dance the sorrow. I dance to keep going.
I dance miracles into being.

Dance in my life is not “something I do.”
Dance is my religion.
My spiritual practice.
My way of offering gratitude for this incredible life.

I think about my ancestors often—how they used to dance in ceremonies, how dance was a ritual practice held in community, something that strengthened bonds and brought people closer. A sacred language we spoke together. A way to give thanks to the moon and the sun. A way to honor the earth.

A way to offer Mother Earth the movement of our bodies as an offering of our souls.

That is what Awakening Dance is for me.

A living remembrance.

Gaia is alive, and my heart feels it. I feel it in my feet. I feel it in my breath. I feel it when rhythm takes over and thinking fades, and suddenly I’m not “doing” anything—I’m simply being moved.

This song is my offering—not just as music, but as dance.
