One evening, in one of the hardest seasons of my life, I walked down to the ocean to pray. I was exhausted, full of questions and pain, and I asked for a sign — something to remind me there was still meaning in what I was going through.
Out of the dark water floated a single white rose. It drifted toward me as if the ocean itself was answering. In that moment something shifted inside me. It didn’t take the pain away, but it showed me that even in the darkest places, beauty and grace can appear.
When we filmed Ocean Rose months later, it wasn’t just another music video. It was me walking back through that experience — returning to the place where I found the rose, showing the turbulence of transformation, and the quiet search for guidance. It became my way of learning that pain is part of life, and that the point is not to push our emotions away but to feel them fully, without letting them consume us.
In the final scene you see me placing the rose into a small treasure chest. That was deliberate: it represents what the experience gave me — a gift born out of sorrow, something precious that changed me forever.
I’ve learned that pain is a part of life, but it doesn’t have to consume us. We can allow ourselves to feel deeply and still discover beauty in the middle of it all. If you’re going through something hard, I hope my story reminds you to look for your own ocean rose — that unexpected sign or gift that helps you keep going.
Think about a moment when life surprised you with an unexpected sign or gift. What was your ocean rose? I’d love for you to share your story in the comments.
